Two of my favourite things.
What a delight to wake up to a city full of glittery white hoar frost. It reminds me of a sparkly coat of glitter dust on the most perfect handmade card. It reminded Caleb of yummy popsicles!
It's one of my most favourite things. It's just so pretty. I want to spend the entire day outside enjoying one of mother natures rare beauties. And then it melts and blahzay winter is back.
But...the best way for me to make blahzay winter more enjoyable is to scrapbook. Just last weekend I (we - but he'll never admit it) set up my scrapbook room in the basement. Actually, last winter I had it set up for an entire week when a pipe in our basement sprang a leak and drenched the floor down there. I was so bummed - about the loss of my newly setup room of course! The repairs and renos were finally completed in fall but I just haven't made the time to set up any part of the basement....till last weekend that is. Here is my own personal slice of heaven
it smells of strawberry scented candles and paper and it has a door -- that locks! There isn't a place I'd rather lock myself into for hours on end. In fact, I've done just that much of this week -- take a gander at what I've accomplished.
I've created two mini-albums and one 12x12 page and was able to complete some undone projects too - two more mini-albums and two more pages. And in the works are a Christmas mini-album and pages on Noah's 1st Birthday.
I love to do things I love!! And it's such a bummer that there never seems to be any time at all in a day to do them. This room is my therapy during a very hectic work week. As I spend my days struggling with unjustly deadlines and projects beyond my comprehension level - I sometimes sit and dream of the next time I can hide away in my room and create to my hearts delight.
With enough tears and begging I may let a snot-nosed child or two into my mommy-room but they have their own little table in the corner to craft at and I have strict rules of no toys or cheerios aloud. It's just me and Murph, who lays obediently at my feet (and Murphy's bazillion toys that I continuously trip over) and if I've treated the big guy to a gourmet supper than he'll surprise me with a cup of fresh coffee and a kiss. What more does a girl need?
