The purge.

A few posts back I talked about being suffocated out of my own house by the overwhelming amount of kids toys and my plan was to purge, purge, purge!  I started to go through the kids toys and make the sell, donate and keep piles but then I got sad that I was letting go of all these cute baby toys and then I felt incredible guilt that I could hurt someones feelings by selling an item they bought for my kids.  So I stopped.

Today, while carrying a basket of laundry downstairs my foot got caught on a pull toy which just about resulted in me taking a floater down a flight of stairs.  Then when I got to the bottom of the stairs I just about broke my ankle tripping over one of the hundred trucks strewn across the playroom THEN I stepped on a plastic fish and it actually pierced the skin on my foot.
That was it.  Out came the camera, up came the toys from the toy room and I sat my fanny in front of the computer and spent the better part of the afternoon putting the toys and baby stuff online.
My mom came up with a great idea to put all the proceeds from the sale of their toys towards the purchase of an outdoor playset for them at our new place.  I've oogled at the amazing wooden playsets in the stores nowadays but they are beyond our means.  But now, we'll start a fund and the money from the sale of these toys will go to something they, their friends and all the neighborhood kids will get abundant joy from for years and years to come.  I find comfort in knowing the love and generosity of our friends and family will continue forward and refurbish from a baby toy into the big boy toy.  Circle of life I suppose.
