Lately, I sort of imagined my emotional being as kind of hanging by a thread or two. Surely, if I hit another speed bump in my travels my wheels will come right off my wide axle! You know those superstitions that claim "when it rains it pours" or "bad luck comes in threes" -- I could summarize my last few weeks into one of those.
And then today, when I least expected it, a friend sent me one of the most emotionally fulfilling notes I've ever received. It was filled with kind words...ahem...about me I'll joyfully admit...but...just pure kindness, sadly something lacking in today's society. It uplifted me. My strings are reattached. I'm re-energized. It wiped my emotionally scarred slate clean. All because of a few kind words. How lucky I am to have a friend like this!
It affirmed for me the raw beauty in the basic principles of the Golden Rule. "Do onto others as you wish them do onto you." Right vs. wrong, good vs. bad and fairness and consideration to all is a pretty darn good set of principles to live by.

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. Often, it is the small acts of kindness which create the biggest and most positive changes. These small deeds, delivered with love and compassion, can make an amazing difference. You may think what you're doing is so insignificant but it's likely to make a huge difference to someone or something in the great order of things
The power of kindness must never be underestimated. Go tell someone how you appreciate them today, it will be with them forever. I know for myself, this cherished note will be neatly folded and put into my memory box that I'll keep forever and probably go back to from time-to-time when I need an emotional pick-me-up.
