Kids Day

Earlier this year, we started a monthly tradition of "KiDs DaY".  We clear our calendars and the day is up to the little people of the house *parent approved*.  Today's agenda included baking Christmas goodies, lots of crazy crafts, silly games, fort making, eating ridiculous things for breakfast, lunch and supper and taking advantage of the beautiful -8 degree weather playing outside for longer than my aging body could handle.

My absolute favorite part was creating ice decorations.  I look forward to it every year and was quite excited that Beebs wanted to do it today!  So in our travels this afternoon we collected a big pail of natures beauties.  Berries, pine cones, snips of cedar and fir and of course lots of stones, courtesy of our in-house collector Noah.

With our outdoor collection, containers of various sizes, food colouring, mica flakes and water. (note:  keep extra towels on hand if you choose to do this with the little hands)

We created ice candles, wreaths, bird feeders and decorations to hang in the trees in the front yard.  So much mess, but so much fun!

As soon as daddy gets home from his hockey game, we'll cap off Kids Day by piling onto the couch for a family movie night.  Popcorn, blankets, and a movie of Caleb's Preschool Christmas Program (daddy was out of town for the concert) and lots of snuggles.
